Qingcheng Mountain Mount Qingcheng (Ch. = Qingchengshan) is one of the ancient birthplaces of Taoism. It lies in Guanxian County, Sichuan Province, and the area around it consists of 36 mountains and 108 famous sights. It commands the vast expanse of Chuanxi Plain. The Yellow Emperor (the ancester of all Chinese) once came here to study Taoism with Ning Fengzhi. Zhang Daoling (the Heavenly Teacher) pursued Tao in these mountains. Zhao Yi (of the Shui dynasty) and Du Guangting (of the Tang dynasty) both came here to be hermits.
Yuan Ming Temple and many other holy places, schools, and buildings in the area were totally destroyed in the terrible earthquake that rocked China in May 2008. Please take some time daily to send out a prayer to those that have suffered so much death and loss from this natural disaster. If possible, please send a donation for restoring the area and the livelihood of its people.
